East Asian Medicine
a integral approach to healthcare
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is one aspect of a vast body of ancient healing knowledge. The practical application of Acupuncture is the insertion of hair-thin, sterile needles in specific points on the body that engage with the energetic and physiological systems to support greater balance, open blockages that have restricted smooth flow of Qi (energy) and blood. When the Qi, blood and fluids are better able to flow through the body pain is relieved and health and vitality are better supported.
Energy flows in the meridians through a series of pathways inside the body. When people experience physical trauma, scars, or repetitive stress, our body’s energies will become blocked. If there is a blockage of energy in the body, then the different organs and cells in areas will not be properly nourished, and eventually lead to various symptoms and signs. You can trace the meridian that is contributing to their pain.
Acupuncturists detect and correct where the kinks, or blockages in the flow of Qi. We use specific points to restore the proper flow of Qi, so that your cells, muscles, tissues and organs can receive the vital energy with which to function correctly.
UNITY OF BODY AND MIND
In East Asian medicine, the physical and the mental emotional/spiritual (Shen) coexist and are treated simultaneously, they are not seen or treated as seperate. Supporting the physical and mental emotional states as one is the ultimate goal in maintaining good health. When the physical and the spiritual are in harmony, disease has no place to take hold.
Other modalities in East Asian Medicine practices include moxibustion, cupping, guasha, tuina/massage, acupressure.

The cupping method warms and promotes the free flow of Qi and blood in the meridians, dispelling cold dampness, reducing swelling and alleviating pain. It is mainly used to treat pain in the back, shoulders, legs, or gastrointestinal disorders such as stomachaches, vomiting, diarrhea, or lung disorders such as cough and asthma.
